WHAT'S MY BACKGROUND?

Shelisa Akbar is an up-and-coming Canadian vocalist, composer, and educator. Her unique sound stems from influences in genres such as Jazz, RnB, Funk, Soca, and Reggae. She has been teaching piano, vocal, and music theory for over several years through her own studio, Shelisa's Music Studio as well as multiple music academies around the GTA. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Humber College, and is currently working on completing a masters degree in music composition at York University. Alongside these multiple commitments Shelisa is undertaking many more musical projects such as forming an EP, and is also involved in multiple live performance settings such as paid entertainment venues, charitable events, open mic nights, and music festivals throughout the GTA.
